Field Trip

A few days ago my class went  on a field trip to the symphony. I recognised  a few instruments including the viola, the violin , the base and the chello.

After that we went to the park by The Painted Lady's and had luch. Then we had free time/ receess.  I played football with a bunch of other guys. I was the only Linebacker when my team was on offence. When we were on defence I rushed the Qaurter back.It was fun since I got to slam into poeple.
Finnaly we went back to school. Then we had all our classes and went home.

My Little Sister is in Kindergarten

My little sister going to kindergarten. She goes to a different school than me. She already has a best friend, Bailey whose big brother I've also befriended. Her school has already had her learn The Pledge of Allegiance. She did it perfectly on the third day. She also made another friend named Sturdy. She's a very popular kindergartner! Lucky.

my mom thinks I am a nerd

Ha Ha
Mama thinks I am a nerd, but she likes the same things I do!
We all like to read, except Dad, but that is because he has dyslexia and it is harder for him. He likes movies. I am trying to teach my younger sister Kelly to read. She almost has it. I think she likes me to read to her so she is not really trying very hard.

Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets

I just finished  the second Harry Potter book and  it was amazing!
First Harry met Dobby. Then Ron got him out of his room and to Hogwarts. After that Voldemort cause lots of trouble.
Finally Harry banished him.
I would give this book a ten out of ten. I also really want to see the movie for it!

I Might not be a Camper

At breakthrough, my summer program we had an outdoor ED trip. I was really looking forwards to it. We went to Angel Island.
There are things I liked and disliked about out "adventure".

I liked the boat ride there and the games we played, the beaches, and the views. I liked my cabin/tent buddies. They were all pretty cool. I also liked talking to friends and making new friends. And finding 7 raccoons trying to raid the bear cabinet!

Here is the stuff I disliked a lot.
I disliked my back pack and having to carry it, the ground texture, the raccoon's growl,
(by the way did you know raccoons growl?)
the rule of hiking up the mountain to rinse out our bowls, and finally the lectures about poison ivy.

I am glad I went, but I am not sure I want to go camping again.

My books for the Honor Roll

Right now I am reading two different series, they are called  Artemis Fowl and Daniel X.
Daniel X is about a alien  that is here to protect earth. He calls earth Tarra Firma and his greatest power is to create. He battles lots of aliens that are numbered for the crimes they commit.
My other series of books, Artemis Fowl, is about a billionaire. He collides with a fairy and captures it. Then he uses her to get powers for himself.

I got these books for getting straight A's. At my school its called the Principal's honor roll. My parents are pretty happy about it.

March's book competition

At the beginning of March my reading class was doing a competition for how many books you could read in the month. My teacher said if you matched or beat how many she read she would have a special accomplishment award thingy. My teacher set her goal to 10 books and I set mine to 11 books. A few weeks later she set her goal to 7.
These are the books I've read so far:

Merlin's Mirror which is about Merlin as a kid.

Brian's Hunt, is the sequel to Hatchet by Gary Paulsen.

The search for Shadow Man is about a mysterious project that a student does,

and finally Skeleton Man, which is about  a girl who's parents die unexpectedly and her uncle brings her to his scary home.

I am now reading The River by Gary Paulsen and I am about 90% through it.
I hope I can reach my goal!

Venus Fly Trap

My awesome sister's got a Venus Fly Trap for me for Valentine's Day. My mom and dad called and ordered it from The Garden Center but they said that the plants come in on Tuesdays but sometimes they wouldn't get them for weeks, even months. We waited for a week and I did some research about how to take care for it.

Here is what I learned when I did my research. I learned that they only need to be feed two flies each year but they can be feed more and the flies have to be alive. They can't be teased because each trap can only close 5 or 6 times before it dies. They can't have tap water and they prefer high places but doesn't need to be there.
We waited for another week.

On the end of the week we decided that we should just order it online and we did . A few days later it arrived, It was a bit crushed, but my mom fixed it. I put it the kitchen because the kitchen is the brightest room in the house and they like lots of sunlight.

I put cup out while it was raining to get some rain water to spray on it because that's the best way to do it.
I know that I'll have lots of fun helping it grow.

Bud Not Buddy

As my next book I'm going to do Bud not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis. It is a Newbery Medal book and its based on the Great Depression. The main character is Bud Caldwell who is an orphan who sets out to find his father after he is sent to a temporary foster home. I think this is a great historical fiction book that has no things I don't like about it.
In conclusion I think this was a ten on a scale from 1- 10 or 41/2 because its not the best book but its really great.

Tuck Everlasting

For my second book Im going to review Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt.
I think Its a five star book.
I think this because it has one of my favorite topics: living forever.
The story is about a little girl named Winnie Foster who lives in the forests of Treegap. She lives in a cluttered, old fashioned house in the 1800's. She decides to run away when she's about 11 (same age as me) and meets this family who lives forever. I like the whole story except that the dialogue is country talk and is a bit had to follow at times.
In conclusion, I think that this book it is a great story and one of my all time favorites.

ski week

On Monday February 21st of 2011 my family, except for one of my sisters, had a week off school for ski week. Even though it doesn't snow often in San Francisco and we didn't go skiing, I've had a fun week so far.
On Monday my big sister Paige was still home because it was Presidents day.
On Tuesday it was my little sister Kelly's 5th birthday!!!! For her birthday we went to the San Francisco Zoo and made her a b-day cake. After that she opened her presents and we had the cake we made and sang Happy Birthday.
On Wednesday we got the things I need for my diorama at the Hobby Shop and I finished my math packet.
On Thursday I did more homework and my mom helped me set up this blog.
On Friday (today) Kelly, Dad and I went to Party City to get the rest of the stuff for Kelly's party on Saturday. I will be helping with her party, even though it is a princess party.
Finally on Sunday I'm going to finish my homework. I just need to make my neat copy for my diorama and that's it.

Hoot

This book which I'm first going to talk about is Hoot by Carl Hiaasen.
I think it is a good but not great book .
I think its good because Roy, the main charater, helps a runaway college student do a dificult , maybe even illegal task!
The thing I dont like about this book is that the middle of the book is too long and could be ok without this long part.
In conclusion I think that Hoot by Carl Hiaasen would be a 8 out of 10 kind of book. In other words its a four star kind of book.
